After School Program
Town of Rochester Community Center
2:30 - 6:00 Monday- Friday.
We follow the School Calendar. REMEMBER! We’re closed when there is early dismissals from school!
FYI Every Friday we will be heading over to the Town Park, weather permitting, between the hours of 3:00 pm - 5:15 pm. We will also be going outside daily at the Center. Please bring appropriate clothing to be kept here for when weather demands it.
Basketball registration begins at Kerhonkson Elementary School
You must bring your birth certificate!
Registration Dates: Monday, September 24, 6:00 pm to 7:30pm . Friday, September 28, 6:00pm to 7:30PM, Friday, October 12 (last day to register) 6:00 pm to 7:30pm. Six-week Skills & Mechanics Program for ages 7 - 9 will begin Nov. 5th Cost: $35.
12 -week league for ages 10 and up $45.

Columbus Day, Monday, October 8, Palisades Mall Bus Trip A bus trip offered to promote family fun! Enjoy the day with your children - go shopping, see an IMAX movie, ice skate, ride the carousel etc…. Adults are $7, and guess what mom and dad, the children go free!

Climb aboard if you dare, the field inhabitants are counting on it, their waiting with baited breath. Their green slimy drool of anticipation awaits you. Only the reflective glimmer of ghoulish eyes lights your way. Will you encounter Jason or Chuckie, or maybe “It” or find a gorilla in your midst? Will you be on the menu for this year’s monster buffet? So will you dare to climb aboard? Sure you will, you crazy fools, you’ll not disappoint the Ghouls.
Whomever, dares to ride may do so at their own risk. Bewitching hour: 6:30PM. May be very scary for some, and is not recommended for children under 8.
Calling Kerhonkson Elementary Students
Free Tobacco Prevention Program Offered
A Tobacco Prevention Program will be held again this year as last year’s sessions were very successful, and the kids had a great time. This year’s program will run five weeks on Thursdays, with the exception of November 22, Thanksgiving: November 1, 8, 15, 29, & December 6. Program is for grades one through four from the Kerhonkson Elementary School. The program will be held at the Town of Rochester Community Center from 4:00PM to 5:15 PM.
The program will focus on presenting materials and activities to help children build refusal skills and learn the dangers and long-term health effects of cigarette smoking in an educational, fun-filled format. A bus will transport children from the Kerhonkson Elementary School to the Town of Rochester Community Center, and parents will be responsible for pickup. Signup and registration is through the Youth Department. Kerhonkson Elementary will require a permission slip for children riding the bus to the Center.
Thanksgiving Day Luncheon

Once again, because we are all struggling through tough economic times, the Community Center will be having a free Thanksgiving Luncheon here at the Center. We invite seniors, families, and any one who may be spending the day alone to come join together as a community family for a delicious Thanksgiving meal.
Turkey and all the fixins’ will be served between 11:30 AM-2:00 PM. Donations of large turkeys, stuffing, cranberries, potatoes, desserts, etc. will be much appreciated. We will also need volunteers to cook a turkey, make stuffing, or volunteer to deliver food. Do you know someone that would enjoy a home delivered meal? To donate food, please call the Youth Department at 626-2115. Please make reservations by November 16.

Is open three days a week - Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday and 10:00 AM - Noon.
This valuable community resource is dedicated to promoting early literacy and book lending for children and their families in the Rondout Valley area. Please support them.

Celebration of lights
Free Trip
Celebrate the start of the holiday season at the “Celebration of Lights” that features a festive holiday parade down Main Street Poughkeepsie, lighting of Christmas trees, and a spectacular firework display. Bus will leave Town Hall by 5:00 pm sharp. Festivities begin at 6:30 pm. Plan to stop for pizza. Call 626-2115 to signup.

Our Policy: No sign-ups for trips accepted on the answering machine. Please call the office or come in to sign-up. If you sign up for a trip, we will hold a seat for you unless you call and cancel. We will try to sell your ticket to someone on the waiting list. If your tickets cannot be sold, you are held responsible for payment, and you will not be reimbursed. Please be aware that trip goers must adhere to bus departure times for destinations so we can remain on schedule. Failure to do so will result in not being allowed to signup for future trips. Please Note that due to bank policy, we must charge $15 for each returned check. Alcohol is prohibited, on Youth Commission trips, programs, and activities.
