Trips/Events/Programs
Youth Commission Office Hours: Monday-Friday 9:00AM - 4:00 PM
Youth Center Hours:
Monday - Friday 2:30 PM - 6:00 PM

(Children under 7 require parent/guardian present.)
Our Policy: No sign-ups for trips accepted on the answering machine. Please call the office or come in to sign-up. If you sign up for a trip, we will hold a seat for you unless you call and cancel. We will try to sell your ticket to someone on the waiting list. If your tickets cannot be sold, you are held responsible for payment, and you will not be reimbursed. Please be aware that trip goers must adhere to bus departure times for destinations so we can remain on schedule. Failure to do so will result in not being allowed to signup for future trips. Please Note that due to bank policy, we must charge $15 for each returned check. Alcohol is prohibited on Youth Commission trips, programs and activities.

Tobacco Prevention Program
Calling all Kerhonkson Elementary School
First and Second Graders!
Due to a Board Of Health Grant, Principal Alan Baker, and The Kerhonkson Elementary School, and Director, Carol Dennin, and Town of Rochester Youth Department, are collaborating to offer a free after-school tobacco prevention program for a maximum of 25 first and second grade students at the Community Center. The program will focus on presenting materials and activities to help children build refusal skills and learn the dangers and long-term health effects of cigarette smoking in an educational, fun-filled format. A bus will transport children from the Kerhonkson Elementary School to the Town of Rochester Community Center, and parents will be responsible for pickup. The program will run four consecutive Wednesdays from May 4, 2005 – May 25, 2005. 4:00PM – 5:15 PM. Bus leaves school at 3:40 PM
Signup and registration is through the Youth Department. Kerhonkson Elementary will require a permission slip for children riding the bus to the Center. Signup now for this valuable program! 626-2115.
Teen Business Employment Workshop
Learn how to fill out an application, write a resume, etc. A job interview can be scary but it does not have to be. Take part in a mock interview; conduct one. The program is fun, educational, and it will give you a professional step ahead of the many job applicant hopefuls.
Classes: Monday, June 6, Wednesday, June 8, and Friday, June 10, 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Must attend all three workshops to receive certificate. (We are in the process of coordinating with local businesses to grant interviews and possible employment with youth completing the course.) Call the Youth Department to register: 626-2115
Community Center Summer Program
Sign-up NOW! 6-week Program
Runs July 11, 2005 - August 19, 2005, Monday-Thursday, 10AM—1:00 PM. Ages five and up. A $15 per week fee will be charged for materials and supplies. Sign up for one week or all six.

Youth Summer Baseball League
Love to play Baseball? Want to improve while having fun? Then, it’s time to Signup for summer baseball. Ages 9 to 12 years old. Youth Summer League at Accord Town Park starting July 18 through July 30. Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 12 Noon. Bring a snack and drink. Instructor Jim Wegrzyn. Sign-up starts June 1. Registration fee: $10 for the entire two weeks.
Trips, Trips, Trips, Going, Going, Gone! _
Strawberry Festival Cruise
Tuesday, June 21
Cruise the Hudson River listening to the music of the Dixieland band. The Rip Van Winkle will set sail at 2:30 pm. sharp & return to port at 4:30. Tickets are: children 11 & under $8.00, adults, $16.00, and seniors, are $14.00. The bus will leave the Community Center 1:15 pm., and return by 5:15 pm. Bronx Zoo
Wednesday, June 29
All tickets are $16. Bus leaves Town Hall at 7:30 AM and returns 7:30 PM. Payment due at sign-up on June 10.

Calling all Seniors
Make your Tuesdays one of the best days of the week, by joining our Senior Group. It’s fun, and lots of laughs. They meet every Tuesday morning at 10:30, followed by (optional) Yoga at Noon. Followed by, you guessed it, lunch at a local restaurant.

A big “Thank You,” goes out to Mike and Sue Smith for another slam-dunk basketball season. Thanks also to the Conway Hammell, Nick and Tom Tacti, and all of the wonderful coaching and referee staff. They made it a great season for the players.
I Just Love That Book
The April 1, “I Just Love That Book” night here at the Center was a great success as more than 25 children came to enjoy the night. Kerhonkson Elementary School principal, Alan Baker was one the readers who read a favorite childhood book. Along with hearing many wonderful stories by volunteer readers, children and their parents were treated to Magic By Daniel. Magician, Daniel Vogel, kept his audience amazed and delighted throughout the show. Children also did arts and crafts, and best of all, they each got to bring home over ten books of their choice, and absolutely free. The event was sponsored by: Rondout Valley Early Childhood Workgroup.
Coming Attractions
